SDNY MAG COURT,
August 12 – In the Magistrates
Court of the U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York on August
12, a defendant was presented
on charges of being a felon in
possession of a firearm which,
the Assistant US Attorney
said, he has tossed into a
flower pot when the NYPD
questioned him about photos of
himself with guns in his
Instagram feed. Inner City
Press, present in person in
the Mag Court, looked around
on Instagram.
SDNY
Magistrate Judge Barbara C.
Moses said she was concerned
that the tossed gun had been
loaded. But the AUSA
acknowledged it had not been
fired.
Federal
Defenders offered six
co-signers but Judge Moses
picked the number four, and a
bond of $100,000. The bond
would not immediately be
signed, so the defendant was
temporarily remanded.
The case, Inner
City Press was told (hours
later it remains sealed) is US
v. Charles, 21-mj-7752 (Moses)
