SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 3 – Nicolle Besuden sued
the City of New York and a
number of police officers for
being assaulted and surveilled
during 2020 protests.
On
May 3, U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Lewis A. Kaplan
held a proceeding. Inner City
Press covered it.
Judge
Kaplan said the case, or at
least complaint, had too much
in it. He zeroed in on
Paragraph 87, which
"incorporates by reference the
factual allegations in" seven
other cases. Plaintiff's
counsel replied that it was an
attempt to provide
context.
Judge
Kaplan said an amended
complaint is due by June 2,
with motions to dismiss and to
bifurcate due by July 2.
The case is
Besuden v. City Of New York,
et al., 21-cv-8452
