SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Sept 2 – Vaughn McKinney
was arrested with child porn
on his phone, or his KIK
account. He says he was
hacked. On September 2 U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Edgard Ramos held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
live tweeted it:
Vaughn McKinney
wants out with no suretor,
just $15,000 on his signature.
"He is gainfully employed."
Judge
Ramos: Now we have the matter
of the defendant's [child
image] account. AUSA: He is
claiming some one hacked into
his account. But the conduct
he has engaged in while an
absconder is of such a
magnitude he should be
remanded.
AUSA: We've sent
his phone to Quantico. But the
problem is venue. He was in a
hotel in Queens, in the
Eastern District. Judge Ramos:
Should that matter to
me? AUSA: No. He has a
criminal history of 6.
AUSA: Defendant
claims his Facebook account
was hacked before it sent the
images. But it also sent an
image of him, manipulating
himself in a mirror.
Defense lawyer:
In early July he was locked
out of his accounts. I got the
image last night and emailed
it to AUSA Coffman. ]
Judge Ramos: You
know more about all this than
I do. Do you mean he was
locked out of KIK and
Facebook? CJA: Yes.
Defense lawyer:
Someone used his account in
late July to post a disgusting
video of a baby, then an image
of Mr McKinney. We contend he
was framed.
Judge Ramos: It
seems spurious that someone
hacked into Mr. McKinney's
account and impersonated him
for purposes of child porn.
The government had met its
burden. There could be a
interesting hearing about this
KIK account.
But he was
remanded. The case is US
v. McKinney, 13-cr-45 (Ramos).
