SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 5 – There is a
longstanding case in the U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
of Actava TV against Channel
One Russia Worldwide, about
the rights to stream content.
But on May 5 in a
proceeding covered apparently
only by Inner City Press,
things got real. Plainiffs'
counsel questions whether
Raymond Dowd and the
Dunnington law firm really has
a power of attorney to
represent Channel One Russia.
U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Kevin N. Fox
asked Dowd when he might get
the required form. Dowd said
it not required, in New
York... but soon.
Judge Fox mentioned the
possibility of default, as a
corporation cannot appear pro
se or without a lawyer. The
case is Actava TV, Inc. et al
v. Joint Stock Company
"Channel One Russia Worldwide"
et al., 18-cv-06626 (Carter /
Fox).
