SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 31 – Jean Pierre
Zagarra-Martinez came to plead
guilty to money laundering
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Vernon S. Broderick
on July 31. Inner City Press
covered it.
The change of
plea proceeding was moving
along according to the ritual
until Judge Broderick asked
the defendant where it was,
that he had picked up the
money. I don't remember, the
defendant
said.
The AUSA didn't
initially know either.
First it was said
that the transfer took place
in Queens - that is, in EDNY
-- with only a phone call
being made in Manhattan, not
be a co-conspirator but a
government source. Finally it
was moved to Manhattan, and
sentencing ordered expedited.
The case is US v.
Zegarra-Martinez, 15-cr-395
(Broderick)
