SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 16 –
Andre McGriff has been
incarcerated since February 14
on charges of armed robberies
in and around Newburg, New
York.
On April 16 his Federal
Defender argued for his
release amid Coronavirus
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York (White Plains) Magistrate
Judge Paul E. Davison.
Assistant
US Attorney Jaffrey Coffman
emphasized McGriff as a
danger, and said that an X-ray
had shown that not only does
McGriff not have tuberculis,
he does not even have LTBI,
Latent TB Infection.
The
Federal Defender begged to
differ, saying that one should
wait for harm before acting.
Magistrate Judge Davison
thanked him for his arguments,
but said McGriff is a danger
to the community, even if
under quantantine at his
girlfriend's north of Newburg.
The application was release
was denied. The case is US v.
McGriff, 20-mj-1761
(Davison).
