SDNY COURTROOM
Exclusive, Oct 1 –
In the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York on September 30, two
detention proceedings were
held back to back by
Magistrate Judge Gabriel W.
Gorenstein on Carlos
Maisonet-Lopez (released) and
Nelson Agramonte-Minaya
(detained), both for 460 kilos
of cocaine.
The
difference? The former is a US
resident, while the latter is
not and is linked to the
facility with the tools to
open the lawn drums with the
cocaine. Inner City Press was
there, the only media in the
Mag court. The lead or first
named defendant got the
Federal Defenders; the other
two, CJA counsel.
The case
on the evening of September 30
was not yet available in
PACER. But it appeared on
October 1, and the Complaint
not only describes "what
appears to be an abandoned
lot" but also has a photograph
of it.
The overall case
is US v. Aponte-Guzman,
21-mj-9445 (Gorenstein).
