SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 13 – Hector Joel Duprey
Vasquez pleaded guilty in
April 2019. He says his lawyer
did not fully explain the plea
agreement to him, and seeks to
withdraw the plea.
On April
13, U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Andrew L. Carter
held an evidentiary hearing.
Inner City Press covered
it.
Duprey
Vasquez said he had been
scared, when pleading guilty
to narcotics conspiracy, that
if he didn't he would get up
to 25 years.
But the
Assistant US Attorney asked
him again and again, if you
lied to the court in 2019,
about understanding the plea,
why should you be believed
now? It could be a Catch-22.
The hearing
will continue, and presumably
conclude, on the April 27.
The case is US v.
Duprey Vasquez, 18-cr-18
(Carter)
