SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 30 – Adel Kellel was born
in Cairo and has run
restaurants in New York since
the 1980s. He pleaded guilty
to tax evasion.
On November
30, U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Paul G. Gardephe
held his sentencing. Inner
City Press covered it.
Kellel
spoke at length, about his 90
year old mother, about having
to pay the hotel for Raffles
Bistro, and the unions,
opening a new restaurant in
Long Beach and buying a small
house there.
Judge Gardephe said tax
evasion is hard to identify
and must be punished. He
imposed two years, to start on
March 1.
The case is
US v. Kellel, 20-cr-67
(Gardephe)
