SDNY
COURTHOUSE, June 1 –
Anthony Valentine was
charged with the murder of
Frederick Fowler of the Clay
Avenue Bloods on May 22,
2000.
On June 1,
2020 - more than twenty years
later - U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge Jed S. Rakoff
was urged to reduce his
sentence. Inner City Press
covered the
proceeding.
The US Attorney's
Office emphasized that he
killed a 32 year old man, and
that he has served "only" 165
months of his 330 month
sentence.
Valentine's lawyer said the
judge should not only consider
the wishes of the victim's
family.
Judge
Rakoff denied the motion for
sentence reduction. The case
is US v. Valentine, 06-cr-580
(Rakoff).
