SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 9 – In a civil rights
class action about invasive
search of visitors at NYC's
jail, the question has arisen
why so many have come forward
with claims.
On November
9 U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Richard M. Berman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
first emailed to get the
security code and then covered
it.
Others had been given the
security code as well. As
Judge Berman spoke, a called
asked if her lawyer was on the
line. Another wanted to opt
out.
Judge Berman was
polite, but eventually, this
is not a Q&A between you
and me. Harvard
Law School professor William
B. Rubenstein spoke about the
process.
It was explained
that not all those who had
responded fell within the
class. Another proceeding was
set for December 17.
The case is
Grottano et al v. City Of New
York et al., 15-cv-9242
