SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 17 -- Artiste Jewelers at
223 Columbus Avenue in
Manhattan has been sued as
inaccessible under the
Americans With Disabilities
Act.
On July 16, U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Andrew L. Carter held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The defense
lawyer noted that he does not
have good conversations with
the plaintiff's counsel, a
repeat ADA litigant.
He went so far as
to say he gets along better
with one of his adversary's
firm-mates; the question was
asked whether the subject
business is even open.
Judge
Carter was having none of it,
saying this did not have to be
on the record or even online.
He urged the parties to talk
and referred it to mediation.
The case is
Norris v. Dasam Sons Inc. et
al., 20-cv-10958
(Carter)
