Woman Charged Will Illegal Re-Entry Has Conflicted Lawyer DOJ Says So Trial Delayed

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Maxwell Book
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Jan 6 – Aracelis Sosa-Urena is charged with illegal re-entry as an alien. The US Attorney's Office says her lawyer may have a conflict of interest.

On January 6, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Victor Marrero held or began to hold a Curcio hearing. Inner City Press covered it.

The US Attorney's Office told Judge Marrero than Sosa-Urena's counsel may be the subject of an investigation by the Grievance Committee of the First Judicial Department of the State of New York.

The counsel replied that was an anonymous complaint, and accused the US Attorney's Office of trying to poison the mind of his client.
But the client acknowledged she had not seen the government's letter to her. Judge Marrero declined to waive the conflict, and said that the CJA counsel on duty confere with Sosa-Urena.
The trial was pushed back six months until June.
The case is US v. Sosa-Urena, 21-cr-575 (Marrero)
