SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 31 – A defendant charged
in a murder conspiracy who
then brought drugs into the
cooperators' GEO prison was
given time served plus six
months on July 31 in the U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York.
Inner City Press covered
it.
Defendant
Garcia's childhood was unlucky
to say the least: both parents
in jail and addicted to drugs.
At the sentencing
Garcia spoke movingly about
how his mother, once she got
out, tried to get him out of
the streets, even turning him
in for two guns. She sent him
money in GEO, but thought it
was for gambling, not
drugs.
SDNY Judge
Katherine Polk Failla,
listened to it all and said
she would have given more than
than time served, for the
cooperation, but for the
conduct in GEO.
For that, six
months. The case is US v.
Garcia, 15-cr-605 (Failla).
