SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 30 – Ariella Burnett was
working for S&C Bridal,
which makes dresses for
weddings and holidays. When
the COVID pandemic hit, she
was fired.
On April
30, U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Alvin K.
Hellerstein held a proceeding.
Inner City Press covered it.
S&C Bridal's lawyer said
that given COVID, their
business was hurt, they had no
choice but to lay off half
their employees. The
government PPP forgiveable
loan program was not
mentioned.
Judge Hellerstein
asked, How many witnesses? The
answer was five to ten. Judge
Hellerstein extended the time
for deposition from September
to December 31.
The case is
Burnett v. S & C Bridal
LLC et al., 20-cv-9804
