SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 1 – Francisco Lora fled
drug charges in 2014. He was
found and arrested in the
Dominican Republic in
2020.
On May 10,
in the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York, now-Second Circuit Judge
Richard J. Sullivan held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge
Sullivan said it was important
to pick a trial date. Defense
counsel at first urged pushing
it back to pursue a plea offer
he said has already been made.
Then vacations
were cited. Finally a date of
Thursday July 29 to start the
trial was selected - but it
still has to go through the
SDNY Committee.
On June 1, Judge
Sullivan held a change of plea
proceeding and Inner City
Press again covered it. The US
Attorney's Office had written
in to explain not charging
bail jumping. Lora asked to
explain why he fled but was
told that was not the point.
There will be a sentencing.
This case is US
v. Lora et al., 13-cr-817
(Sullivan)
