SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Jan 30 – Manuel
Gonzalez was sentenced to 30
years in jail for murder, back
when Mary Jo White was US
Attorney.
On
January 29, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Judge Paul G. Gardephe held a
re-sentencing. Inner City
Press covered it.
The
Supreme Court's decision in
Davis required the
re-sentencing. The Assistant
US Attorney argued that the
sentence should remain the
same.
Judge
Gardephe, after hearing of
training and classes in
prison, noted that much of the
sentence has already been
served. So he re-sentenced
Gonzalez to time served.
The case is US v.
Gonzalez, 98-cr-438 (Gardephe)
