SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 17 – Paul Thomson was
indicted in 2019 as an alleged
Felon in Possession of a
firearm, and arrested in 2020.
On July 17 U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Lewis J. Liman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Beyond the
formalities, two issues arose.
One involves the
indictment, or more precisely
the grand jury, which while
"seated" in Manhattan apparently
involved jurors actually
sitting in White Plains, which
the defense lawyer said might
violation the US Constitution.
The other, more
troubling, is that according
to his defense lawyer Thomson
has been held in the MCC in
quarantine not for two weeks
but four, allowed to leave his
cell only every other day.
He has been in
the same clothes for four
weeks, his lawyer said.
Judge Liman
to his credit asked for an
update by next Tuesday, July
21, as to the double-down
quarantine.
The case is
US v. Thompson, 19-cr-56
(Liman)
