SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 7 – Dorian Studio of
Spokane, Washington leased a
Canon ImagePress machine in
2016 but it didn't work,
suffering from magenta lines
and pocking. Dorian
sued.
On July 7, U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Jed S. Rakoff held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The two sides jousted, citing
for example a decision by SDNY
Judge Crotty. Judge Rakoff
joked, His chambers are right
next to mine, if I don't
follow him I might hear from
him.
But ultimately
Judge Rakoff granted Canon's
motion to dismiss the
Washington Consumer Protection
Act claim, while denying
Canon's motion to dismiss for
lack of subject matter
jurisdiction.
The case is
Dorian Studio Inc v. Canon
Solutions America Inc et al.,
20-cv-3204 (Rakoff)
