SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Dec 1 – James Bazemore
is charged with being a felon
in possession. In the Essex
County Jail where he is, he is
charged money to call his
lawyer.
On December
1, U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Ernesto Ramos held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The AUSA
assigned is from the SDNY's
White Plains office where, he
said, they do the arraignment
before "wheeling out" the case
to a judge and getting a "CR"
docket
number.
Bazemore's
lawyer, during the proceeding,
asked Bazemore to call him
once he get a copy of the
post-arrest statements that he
made.
Bazemore replied
that he has only $2 left in
his account and his last call
to the lawyer cost a dollar
and change. Should
it be this way?
The case is US v.
Bazemore, 20-cr-573 (Ramos)
