SDNY MAG COURT
EXCLUSIVE, Nov 9 - In
the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York on November 9, a
detention or bond proceeding
was held by Magistrate Judge
Sarah L. Cave on a defendant
charged with identity theft
and bank fraud, who had put on
a wig to try to evade police.
Inner City Press was there,
the only media in the Mag
Court.
The
defendant Ishmael Benreuben,
according to Assistant US
Attorney Amanda Weingarten,
had tried to hide under a
coach was he was arrested; he
had 11 people's identity
documents on his iCloud. She
added that he has gang
tattoos.
The Federal
Defender argued for release on
bond, asking what do tattoos
prove? (Admissions to the case
agent were cited).
On risk of flight
grounds, Judge Cave ordered
him detained.
The case is
US v. Benreuben, 22-mj-8371
(Cave)
