SDNY MAG COURT
EXCLUSIVE, Nov 14 - In
the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York on November 14, a
detention or bond proceeding
was held by Magistrate Judge
Jennifer E. Willis on a
defendant charged with
bringing 10,000 fentanyl pills
to New York, from Arizona
where he lives.
Inner City
Press was there, the only
media in the Mag Court.
The
defendant according to the
Assistant US Attorney has
overstayed his tourist visa
from Mexico and was a risk of
flight. But his Federal
Defender cited a brother
living in Phoenix running a
cleaning business, and an
uncle in Oregon who, she
seemed to say, works for
Tesla.
Judge
Willis ordered release on
$50,000 unsecured bond with
two co-signer, but said his
brother's signature would be
required before release. The
defendant still did not have
access to the telephone
numbers in his phone - this
happened just the proceeding
ended, and Judge Willis said
she expected the defendant to
be released tomorrow, on
November 15. Then his passport
is to be turned in within 24
hours.
The case is US v.
Goray, 22-mj-9182 (Willis)
