SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Aug 24 – Edwin Almonte was one
of four defendants subject of
a sealing drug conspiracy
indictment in August 2019.
"The government seized phones
from [three] on the day of
their arrest." A trial was set
for May 11, 2020.
Then COVID
hit.
On August
24, U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Ronnie Abrams held
a change of plea proceeding
via Skype. Inner City Press
covered it, and identified
itself when asked.
The plea
was routine, to a lesser
included offense as to Count
1. Sentencing was set for
December 11.
The case is US v.
Almonte, 19-cr-621 (Abrams)
