SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Aug 5 – Genesis Ventura sued
Ashvin Venkataswany and his
two restaurants from having
been sexual harassed there,
and reached a settlement. But
now amid the COVID-19 pandemic
shut-down, the settlement
cannot be paid. On August 5
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Katherine Polk Failla
held a proceeding. Inner City
Press covered it.
Judge
Failla said she did not want
the case restored to the
calendar and urged that an
agreement, a second agreement,
be reached.
Venkataswamy,
through counsel Paula Kelly,
said that there is no money to
pay.
Ventura's
lawyer asked to see proof.
Kelly said, Not
with media on the line.
Judge
Failla came up with a
solution: Kelly email the
information to her Chamber for
in camera review; to her
credit she ordered that at
least the cover letter go into
the docket.
The case is
Ventura v. Tri Tip City, LLC
et al., 19-cv-120 (Failla)
