SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Dec 4 – The Liebowitz Law
Firm, sometimes called
copyright trolls, appeared on
December 4 in their lawsuit
against Insider, Inc. Inner
City Press covered it.
U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Louis L. Stanton held
the proceeding, and took his
time.
Insider, Inc.'s
lawyer, Oren J. Warshavsky of
Baker & Hostetler, said
his client pays him $1,500 an
hour. His point was they
don't mind fighting - they
just don't want to pay legal
fees to LLF which keeps suing
them.
LLF's James H.
Freeman said despite
Liebowitz's actions in a few
case - he is now subject to an
interim suspension order by
the SDNY Grievance Committee,
M-2-238, cited by SDNY Judge
Jesse M. Furman in his
November 30 order in Usherson
v. Bandshell Artist
Management, 19-cv-6368 -
doesn't change that he is
fighting for "working class
photographers."
The Baker
& Hostetler lawyer
sneered, "Let's not pretend
you're in this for the public
interest."
Judge
Stanton, noting that he
practices law for 30 years and
so understood fees, set a next
conference for January 15, on
issues including when the
registration in this case was
filed.
The case is
Chin v. Insider, Inc.,
20-cv-4707 (Stanton)
