SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 7 – Raimundo Nieves
is in the MDC in
Brooklyn.
On October
7 U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Valerie E. Caproni held
a proceeding on Nieves'
request to be release to
attend his brother's wake on
October 8. Inner City Press
covered it.
The US Attorney
said the decedent is the
defendant's half brother, and
that by going out and then
back into the MDC Nieves might
bring COVID-19 in.
It was said that
temporary release is not
appropriate when the defendant
is held on a crime of
violence, as a danger to the
community.
Judge
Caproni offered her
condolences, but denied the
request.
This case
is US v. Nieves, 19-cr-862
(Caproni)
