SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Aug 19 – Less than nine months
ago Shawn O'Faire was charged
with selling crack in The
Bronx.
On August 19,
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Katherine Polk Failla
held a change of plea
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge
Failla asked O'Faire if he had
every been treated for mental
illness, a standard question.
O'Faire began to mention
health care and an offer was
made to seal this portion of
the transcript. Ulimately the
reference was to years
ago.
After the
guilty plea the issue was the
mandatory remand provision.
COVID-19 was cited, and
O'Faire was left out pending
his sentencing on December 15.
The case is US v.
O'Faire, 20-cr-236 (Failla)
