SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Jan 6 – James Glisson was set
to plead guilty to violations
of supervised release on
January 6. But there was a
lack of clarify as to exactly
what he was pleading
to.
On January
6, U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Chief Judge Laura Taylor Swain
held a VOSR proceeding. Inner
City Press covered it.
Chief Judge Swain asked all
the questions, including How
did you become an American
citizen? Glisson said, I was
born in Jacobi Hospital.
"That'll
do it," Chief Judge Swain
said.
But when
it came time to allocute,
Glisson's lawyer wanted to do
it for him. Chief Judge Swain
said, correctly, that she
needed to hear the specifics
from the defendant. Even after
lawyer and client conferred,
the allocution was not
ready.
Chief Judge
Swain said it was too
important to just move
forward. She continued the
change of plea proceeding to
January 18 at 9 am.
The case is US v.
Glisson, 15-cr-618
(Swain)
