SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Oct 11 - For the Lev Parnas
and Andrey Kukushkin trial set
to begin jury selection on
October 12, the US Attorney's
Office on September 21 named
in a filing to U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge J.
Paul Oetken the man they say
paid $1 million that went to
Nevada political candidates:
Andrey Muraviev. In a
footnote: "The Government has
previously redacted Muraviev's
name in public filings and the
Indictment, but no longer does
so here given that a trial...
is now immanent."
On October 11,
Kukushkin through his counsel
Gerald Lefcourt asked Judge
Oetken to "allow the parties
to defer the exercise of any
juror for cause and peremptory
challenges until a second day
of jury selection, after the
names of the venirepersons
have been disclosed to the
parties... to allow the
parties to conduct necessary
background research on
potential jurors and evaluate
potential challenges and
strikes." They cited a 2015
SDNY case.
Late on October
11 the US opposed Kukushkin's
request, noting that his "list
of people and entities
discloses the names of three
jury consultants and a jury
consulting firm" and asking,
if Judge Oetken grants the
request, for equal time. So -
more than one day of jury
selection?
On October 11
Kukushkin asked to exclude a
slew of Government Exhibits,
