In Armed Robbery of Pot Dealer Starts Car
Wash for Kids, Gets Time Served

SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 23 – Dimitrius Simmons
was charged with armed robbery
of a marijuana dealer near
3120 Heath Avenue in The
Bronx. He was released on
bailed after a week then
pleaded
guilty.
On June 22, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Lorna G. Schofield, about to
start the jury trial of
Stephen Calk for allegedly
using a bank to try to buy the
position of Secretary of the
Army, held his sentencing.

Simmons
spoke for himself, explaining
how he started a car wash then
car detailing business in
Harlem, employing young people
for $10 a car, to avoid
problems he had when
young.
Judge
Schofield remarked that as a
judge she is given hammers but
not much less. She asking
about halfway houses.
Ultimately, she
imposed a time served
sentencing, noting that with
this break, any violation of
supervised release would not
be lightly viewed.
