SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Sept 10 – Viacom and Paramount
Pictures have hired the
Shearman & Sterling law
firm to try to get an
injunction against any future
lawsuits by a thorn in their
side based in California,
regarding whom they filed
numerous sealed
exhibits.
On
September 10 U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Katherine Polk Failla held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Viacom and
Paramount cited the Second
Circuit's decision in Eliahu
v. Jewish Agency for Israel,
919 F.3d 709 (2019) for the
principle that courts can
block litigation in advance,
or require their pre-approval
before any claims are
filed.
It is difficult
to fully assess or report
Viacom's arguments, given that
they have filed exhibits under
seal.
The case is
Carrington v. Graden et al,
18-cv-4609 (Failla)
