Soho Condo Deck Fire Triggers Lawsuit About Negligent Smoking and ArtReinvented Damage

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Maxwell Book
BBC-Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN NY Mag

SDNY COURTHOUSE, April 19 –   A fire on the terrace roof deck at the 51 Greene Street condominium building on Manhattan's Soho neighborhood has triggered a lawsuit blaming the fire on negligent smoking.

On April 18, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

Sydney Hyman accuses the defendants of filing to extinguish the item(s) they were smoking, and damaging her businesses ArtReinvented Studio and TomorrowToday.

Judge Cave set an in-person (and sealed) settlement conference for May 31 at 2 pm, preceded by a May 11 proceeding before the assigned District Judge, Analisa Torres.

The case is Hyman v. Fabbri et al., 19-cv-10506 (Torres / Cave)
