SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 18 –
Leon Greathouse was arrested
for murder in 2000. He is
suing the City of New York,
Police Officer Freddie Vasquez
and then-DA Cyrus Vance for
violation of his
Constitutional rights.
On April 18, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn
held a proceeding. Inner City
Press covered
it.
Greathouse's
complaint recounts that back
in 2000 "posters were posted
throughout the city of
Manhattan Harlem by the 28th
Precinct of me for the 2d
degree murder." Later he
was repeatedly denied parole
due to "lack of consensus."
He is suing for
$5 million.
Judge Netburn said that fact
discovery must be concluded by
October 18, with expert
discovery if any extending
into 2023.
The case is
Greathouse v. Vasquez et al.,
20-cv-8748 (Engelmayer /
Netburn)
