SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 9 – Marvin Strand,
convicted in a 2006 drug case,
is now charged with a
drug-related violation of
supervised release.
On March 9, U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Sidney H. Stein held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Judge
Stein spoke directly to
Strand, telling him that his
lawyer, the prosecutor and
yes, the Court, were giving
him one more change.
He
sentenced him to time served,
but with release only to a
residential drug rehab
facility, to be followed by
four years of supervised
release.
He was
asked how BOP will know how to
release Strand.
In consultation
with the U.S. Marshals, was
the response. "It is the
expectation of the Court that
a bed will become available
within the next seven days."
The case is US v.
Strand, 06-cr-593 (Stein)
