SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 7 – Nasir Vincent was
indicted as part of a
narcotics conspiracy; a change
of plea (to guilty) proceeding
was scheduled for July 7
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Analisa Torres.
Inner City Press covered it.
The proceeding was going
according to script until the
allocution.
Judge Torres
asked if the group he was
pleading to being a member of
had as its goal committing
crimes.
No, he
said. Do the
members protect each others,
she asked. Again
he said no.
Judge Torres
asked, How many members does
it have? The
defendant responded with a
question, You mean in the
indictment.
It seemed
clear, he wanted to plead
guilty and get the plea deal,
but did not want to
incriminate anyone else.
The Assistant US
Attorney pushed for more,
saying the elements might not
otherwise be met. The case is
US v. Vincent, 20-cr-78
(Torres)
