Lawyer Paid By Kalman Sporn Says If Can Sue Sister Can Sue Him So Pursues Sanctions

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, April 14 –  David and Sharon Rosen sued Leah Sporn Savitt for fraud. Then their lawyer locked himself out of his car.

On April 12, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge John P. Cronan held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

The plaintiffs' lawyer did not appear; the defendant's lawyer asked for sanctions, saying Ms Sporn never even met with them, other than in social setting.

Judge Cronan declined to do much, ex parte

After the conference, plaintiff's counsel wrote to Judge Cronan: "I locked myself (and my wallet, computer and files) out of my car. I thought about breaking a window to meet the conference, but my wife would not let me....My clients, the former chief rabbi of South Africa, gave defendant Kalman Sporn his life savings and it is stolen."

On April 14, Judge Cronan convened another proceeding. Again defense counsel said he wants to pursue sanctions. He said Leah Sporn Savitt's only connection is receiving money from her brother, that if this is enough to sue he should be sued, for receiving his retainer.

The case is Rosen et al. v. Sporn et al., 21-cv-683 (Cronan)
