SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 27 – Lavon Barrett,
previously convicted in a 2009
case, was arrested and
sentenced again then faced
another sentencing, on the
Violation of Supervised
Release.
On May 27,
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Richard M. Berman held
Barrett's VOSR sentencing.
Inner City Press covered
it.
Judge
Berman said earlier in the
proceeding that he intended to
make his sentence run
concurrent with the Eastern
District sentence Barrett is
serving.
He said
that everyone on the call was
disappointed in what Barrett
did.
Long-time
Assistant US Attorney Michael
Maimim said that with all due
respect he disagreed with
everything, that he is not
disappointed but rather angry
at Barrett, for returning to
gang business, no longer with
drugs addiction or youth as
excuses.
Judge
Berman slightly modified his
sentence, to 30 month
concurrent with the EDNY
sentence, and five years
supervision - with therapy -
one year longer than the
EDNY's four year period of
supervised release.
The case is US v.
Barrett, 09-cr-765 (Berman)
