SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 29 – Joval Palmer is
charged with using a gun to
rob a livery cab in The Bronx,
and driving it to New Rochelle
where the owner managed to
turn off the engine
remotely.
On April 29, U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Mark Kay Vyskocil held a
change of plea proceeding.
Inner City Press covered
it.
Palmer said
he is 33, and a citizen of the
US. Judge Vyskocil, when the
time came, asked Palmer's CJA
lawyer to go with him into a
breakout room to explain the
possible immigration
consequences of the plea.
One of the
charges he pleaded guilty to
carries at 111 to 121 months
guideline
sentence.
The AUSA
described the use of GPS on
the cab, on Palmer's phone and
the shut off of the engine as
the evidence.
Judge
Vyskocil accepted the plea,
and set sentencing for August
31.
The case is USA
v. Palmer, 20-cr-379
(Vyskocil)
