SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 7 –
Omer Kwhaja sued Jobs to Move
America for discrimination on
the basis of gender and race,
and for retaliation. Now his
lawyer, who did not show up in
court perhaps for medical
reasons, is in trouble.
On May 6, U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Magistrate Judge
Stewart D. Aaron held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Among the
allegations are JMA's denial
of parental leave. When his
lawyer Louis Johnson Jr. did
not show up, Judge Aaron gave
him until May 20 to show cause
why he should not be reported
to the SDNY Grievance
Committee.
Kwhaja
while calling Johnson
unresponsive and the situation
awkward, said the Johnson had
been in the hospital and
should perhaps not be
referring to the Grievance
Committee. But it may happen.
The case is
Khwaja v. Jobs to Move America
et al., 19-cv-7070 (Cronan /
Aaron)
