SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 24 –
A prisoner sued the City of
New York and corrections
officers for having been put
in a housing unit in the
Manhattan Detention Center
specifically to be retaliated
against.
On May 12, U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Magistrate Judge
Sarah L. Cave held a
conference. Inner City Press
covered it.
The
complaint details the
switching from Unit 9B to 10B,
and card from red to yellow.
The complainant on May 12 said
the City's response was in bad
faith.
Judge Cave
said, No, she is going out of
her way to make allowances,
but don't question the good
faith of the City's counsel.
On June 24, Judge
Cave held another proceeding,
and Inner City Press again
covered it. She ordered the
defendants to mail to Genao,
by the new August 19 deadline,
video of the incident and
audio of a December 2018
hearing.
The case is
Genao v. City of New York et
al., 20-cv-6507 (Gardephe /
Cave)
