SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 23 – Jhancarlos
Acosta-Liriano was accused of
conflict to distributed 40
grams and more of
fentanyl.
On November 23
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge P. Kevin Castel held a
change of plea proceeding.
Inner City Press covered
it.
All was going
according to script until
defense lawyer Oliver S.
Storch introduced the phrase
40 grams OR more.
Judge Castel said
this wouldn't do and perhaps
counsel and defendant should
confer.
They did, and
Storch returned apologetic.
Judge Castel to
his credit said the defense
lawyer had only being trying
to clarify things.
The plea was
accepted and a sentencing date
of February 23 at 11 am was
set.
The case is US v.
Acosta-Liriano, 19-cr-500
(Castel)
