SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Aug 27 – Benjamin Holmes has a
metal value in his heart. He
says a guard at the Ward's
Island Homeless Shelter put a
magnet near it and made him
sick. He
sued.
On August 27 U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Lewis J. Liman held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The City's
lawyers were dismissive, and
geared up for a motion to
dismiss.
Holmes asked, How
can they do this, they almost
killed me.
Judge Liman
patiently explained pro se
rules and possible assistance,
even having a phone number
read out to Holmes.
The case is
Holmes v. Department of
Homeless Services, et al.,
19-cv-8962 (Liman)
