SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 12 – Back in 2009, Inner
City Press and other covered
the case against Hassan
Nemazee, including taking a
$100 million loan from HSBC to
pay Citibank - no honor among
thieves.
On April 12, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Sidney H. Stein held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
Nemazee asked to be put in the
"Low Intensity Case Load" and
to be able to travel
domestically and
internationally. Nemazee
served nine years; he is now
71 years old.
He's working for
Merilane Investment LLP,
making up to $15,000 a month
when able to travel. The
company aims to "develop
high-end rental
properties."
Judge
Stein, citing ongoing
restitution obligations and
deference to Probation, denied
the applications.
The case is US v.
Nemazee, 09-cr-902 (Stein)
