Man Arrested For Offering $3500 Passports For Crypto Liquidation To Be Released With Phone

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Maxwell Book
BBC-Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN NY Mag

SDNY Mag Court Exclusive, April 4 – Hosame Dergasly was arrested after offering to selling fake passports from Guatamela, Germany and Turkey to an undercover Federal agent who told Dergasly has wanted the passports "to liquidate crypto currency and withdraw cash from financial institutions."

On March 30, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave held a proceeding on releasing Degasly, pending resolution of an ICE immigration detainer. Inner City Press covered it, as the only media in the SDNY Magistrates Court.

Dergasly, who had primarily spoken in Arabic, offered to sell the passports for $3500 each.

Docketed on April 1, this: "ENDORSED LETTER as to Hosame Dergasly addressed to Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave from Zawadi Baharanyi, Esq dated 3/31/2022 re: Hosame Desgasly, 22 Mag 2831. Ms. Baharanyi writes to request that Mr. Dergasly be released upon his signature, the ankle bracelet, and surrendering his passport. This will give the parties additional time to arrange and complete the co-signer process without prolonging Mr. Desgasly's time at the MDC Brooklyn. Application DENIED WITHOUT PREJUDICE to renewal if Judge Broderick affirms the Court's decision to grant Mr. Dergasly release on conditions."

And Judge Broderick did order Desgasly released: "ORDER as to Hosame Dergasly: ORDERED that the Government's application for Defendant's detention is DENIED; IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that all bail conditions set by Judge Cave will remain in place, (id.), but Defendant must meet all of the conditions prior to his release; IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Defendant obtain a landline at his place of residence within 30 days, but Defendant need not meet this condition prior to his release; IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Defendant be limited to one electronic device; and IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Pretrial Services be given access to any electronic device obtained by Defendant. (Signed by Judge Vernon S. Broderick).

Inner City Press will continue to follow the case, which is US v. Dergasly, 22-mj-2831 (Broderick / Cave)
