SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 27 – Lepold Landau sued
Stephen Einstein &
Associates, P.C. under the
Fair Debt Collection Practices
Act, saying the defendant
"regularly collects or
attempts to collect debts
asserted to b owed to
others."
On
March 26, U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Magistrate Judge
James L. Cott held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
After Judge
Cott asked the plaintiff to
state how much they believe
they are entitled to, the
defense cut in and say it was
not there it. It still
contests liability, calling
the complaint boiler
plate.
Judge Cott
has ordered that the plaintiff
should submit a letter by
April 9 identifying the
specific amount sought by the
plaintiff in this action.
The case is
Landau v. Stephen Einstein
& Associates, P.C et al.,
20-cv-10910 (Carter / Cott)
