SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 8 –
Albert Lopez sued Vanguard
Dermatology under the "Fair
Labors Standards Act" [sic] in
2018.
When the case
came up for a proceeding to
review the fairness of
settlement on July 8, 2020,
Inner City Press covered
it.
U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
John G. Koeltl during the
proceeding questioned the lack
of "lodestar" in the filing.
Lawyers apologized and offered
to file it under
seal.
And hours later,
an order went online: "Order
granting Motion to Approve
Settlement. The parties may
submit the settlement
agreement and settlement
letter under seal and provide
a redacted copy in the public
record."
Why
redacted?
The case is Lopez
v. Vanguard Dermatology,
18-cv-4207 (Koeltl)
