SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 8 – Despite the
incarceration of Harvey
Weinstein and the Coronavirus
pandemic (and the death of
Jeffrey Epstein), high profile
#MeToo cases continue in the
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York.
On
May 9 Inner City Press covered
a discovery or protective
order proceeding in Wedil
David's case against Weinstein
and his companies.
The complaint was initially
filed in California in 2018;
Weinstein and his companies
like others removed it to
SDNY. The complaint said,
"Weinstein then used his
massive weight to force
himself on her" (Para 15).
On May 9,
SDNY Magistrate Judge Fox went
through the 15-page proposed
protective order paragraph by
paragraph. He said, for
example, "At paragraph 12, the
phrase 'due and proper care'
is vague, it needs to be
reworked.... If you refer to
high level summary, what is a
low level summary?"
Low level indeed. There are
other even lower level #MeToo
cases now in the SDNY to which
Inner City Press will later
return - or not. This case is
David v. The Weinstein Company
LCC et al., 18-cv-5414 (Abrams
/ Fox).
