SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 22 –
Jennifer
Rivera sued
PLS Check
Cashers of New
York, Inc.
after she
began working,
as a pregnant
woman, then
was fired. The
company says
they only then
realized she
had failed the
entrance
test.
On
November 21,
2022, U.S.
District Court
for the
Southern
District of
New York
Magistrate
Judge Jennifer
E. Willis held
a proceeding.
Inner City
Press covered
it.
Rivera named
as a
co-defendant
Katherine
Beard Guzman,
who she says
spoke rudely
to her. On
November 21
the defense
lawyer said
Guzman herself
was eight
months
pregnant.
Judge
Willis ruled
that fact
discovery is
due by May 5;
the parties
did not
consent to
Magistrate
Judge

and request a
jury trial.
The
case is Rivera
v. PLS Check
Cashers of New
York, Inc. et
al.,
22-cv-5642
