SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 29 – Jason Winters says
he was beaten up with blunt
objects in Rikers Island's
Anna M. Kross Center on March
9, 2019. He
sued.
On July 29, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Vernon S. Broderick held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
In
advance, the governmental
defendants wrote and tried to
adjourn it, saying Winters
might be being transferred
from City to State custody.
Judge Broderick kept the
conference on.
And at it, he
ordered another conference for
August 30, saying he hoped
Winters had been given
documents by then.
The case is
Winters v. Smalls et al,
19-cv-7272 (Broderick)
