SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 18 – A case filed
against the Trump empire in
2017 plodded along on May 18
in a nearly empty
courtroom.
U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave
held a conference. Inner City
Press went and covered it.
There was only one other
person in the courtroom
gallery.
The plaintiff's
lawyer was detailing documents
he said show transfers to and
from the Eric Trump
Foundation, payment to Trump
golf clubs - but he said he
wants more. Judge Cave asked,
in essence, don't you have
what you need?
Then the
defense lawyer responded -
calling in by phone. It was
not clear from the docket if
the proceeding was available
to the press and public by
listen only phone line as
well.
This should
continue to happen, regardless
of COVID - certainly when
counsel are permitted to call
in, but otherwise, too.
The case is Doe
et al v. The Trump Corporation
et al., 18-cv-9936 (Schofield
/ Cave)
